Eco-Runner 10, recruiting now
Would you like to work on the future of hydrogen technology by building an ultra efficient hydrogen vehicle? We still have some room left! Every year the Eco-Runner dreamteam designs and builds a car that pushes the limits of vehicle efficiency. The upcoming year we strive to enter the urban concept division were we will make a hydrogen car which is more directed to the consumer. This of course brings many interesting challenges. The ultimate goal is to win the Shell Eco-Marathon in 2020.
We are looking for students specific for Powertrain, Electronics, Operations and Strategy. For more information scroll down or come to our interest drink to have a chat with our team.
See you then!

As an electronics engineer, there are possibilities in two directions: power electronics and signal electronics. In power electronics, you are working very closely together with powertrain, to make sure the electricity made by the fuel cell is transported as efficiently as possible to the motor. Also, you are responsible for power storage and the safety systems in the car. Besides power electronics we have opportunities in signal electronics, in collaboration with strategy. You will make sure the data that the strategy department wants to have is gathered with the appropriate sensors, saved, and sent to the trackside to analyze. In both directions, you will be busy with designing PCBs, testing, and optimizing your designs for maximum efficiency.
As Operations Manager you are responsible for everything that has to do with the marketing side of the project. Without you all the important developments from the Eco-Runner project would go unnoticed by the public. In short, you are the voice of the team. In general, you will be responsible for arranging events such as fairs, team presentations, targeting partnerships, press releases, all social media and recruiting the succeeding team. This includes, but is not limited to, calling and emailing companies and organisations, writing news posts, creating posters, documenting progress. Generally speaking your job is successful when everybody across the world knows about the Eco-Runner Team. You will work closely with the Team Manager, Technical Manager and Finance.
As a powertrain engineer you are responsible for converting the electrical energy, created by the fuel cell, to mechanical energy. An important aspect of this job is the electrical motor, which we design together with specialist company. Furthermore it is important to design and produce different electrical components and architectures to efficiently deliver the energy from the fuel cell to the motor. This project deals with the efficient storage of energy, and challenges we are facing in matching supply and demand. All together, this department offers a wide range of interesting opporunities to work on complicated engineering challenges which directly translate into great achievements in efficiency and car performance.
The strategy department is responsible for the optimal performance of our vehicle. First by making sure the other departments make their best design with the data from the strategy department, and second by determining the optimal driving strategy during the race.
A lot of projects are going on in the strategy department: development of the race simulation software, the implementation of the sensor system to gather data from the vehicle and send it to the trackside, displaying information and advice to the driver, and even making that same driver needless by making the Eco-Runner fully autonomous!
